Pattern: Ozark Shrug with Mane


MATERIALS:
5 Skeins Ozark Handspun yarn
2 Skeins Manos del Uruguay or worsted weight yarn of choice
1 Ozark Mane-scarf style
1 US size 17 circular knitting needles
1 US size N or P crochet hook
1 Tapestry needle

INSTRUCTIONS: Cast on 37 stitches using Ozark Handspun yarn.
Row 1: Knit using Ozark Handspun
Row 2: Attach Manos del Uruguay, leave Ozark Handspun hanging. Knit across.
Row 3: *Wrap yarn twice and knit. Repeat from * across.
Row 4: Knit across, dropping second wrap on each stitch (drop stitch technique).
Row 5: Pick up Ozark Handspun, knit across.
Row 6: Knit with Ozark Handspun across.
Repeat rows 2-6 until piece measures approximately 38 inches, ending with Ozark Handspun. Bind off.
FINISHING: Using tapestry needle and some of Manos del Uruguay, sew up 6 inches from end of long strip on each side. (Creates 'sleeves'.) Using crochet hook and Ozark Handspun, single crochet decrease every other stitch reducing number of stitches by half. Single crochet evenly one more row. Slip stitch together. Fasten off.
Repeat for second sleeve.
Position Ozark Mane to your liking.
Sew in place using tapestry needle and Manos del Uruguay.

Pattern: Ozark Bag of Feathers & Fringe

MATERIALS:
1-2 Skeins Ozark Handspun yarn
2 Skeins Cascade 220 worsted weight yarn
1 Feather strip (approximately 30 inch length)
2 Bamboo handles
1 US Size 11 circular needles-24 inch long
1 US size G crochet hook
4 Stitch markers (3 of same color)
1 Sewing needle & thread

Abbreviations: CO=cast on; BO=bind off; K=knit; P=purl; PM=place marker; SM=slip marker; inc=increase; dec=decrease; sts=stitches; k2tog=knit 2 together; ssk=(decrease)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Using US Size 11 circular needles and a single strand Cascade 220, CO 36 sts. Knit 28 rows (resulting in 14 garter stitch ridges.)
Sides: Row 1: You will already have 36 sts on needles. PM, pick up and k 14 sts along side of bag; PM, pick up and k 36 sts; PM, pick up and k 14 sts; place beginning of row marker of different color and k 36 sts. You will have 100 sts on needles..
Rows 2-40: Repeat row 1.
Row 41: K 36 sts, sm; K2 tog, k to two sts before marker, SSK, sm; k 36 sts, sm, K2 tog, k to two sts before marker, ssk, sm.
Row 42: K 36 sts, sm; k 12 sts, sm; K 36 sts, sm; k 12 st, sm.
Rows 43-45: Repeat row 42.
Row 46: K 36 sts, sm; K2 tog, K to two sts before marker, SSK, sm; K 36 sts, sm; K2 tog, k to two sts before marker, SSK, sm.
Row 47: K 36 sts, sm; k 10 sts, sm; k 36 sts, sm; k 10 sts, sm.
Row 48: K 36 sts, sm; K2 tog, k to two sts before marker, SSK, sm; k 36 sts, sm; K2 tog, k to two sts before marker, SSK, sm.
Rows 49 to 55: Purl 36 stitches, sm; p 8 sts, sm; p 36 sts, sm.
Bind off row: BO all stitches in knit-wise manner. Fasten off and bury ends.
Felting (Fulling) Instructions: Thoroughly wet your knitted bag and apply a little liquid soap. Place in a lingerie bag. Place in washer on low water level and hot water setting. Do not allow to go to next cycle. Check frequently to monitor felting process. When satisfied with results, remove from washer. Rinse thoroughly and squeeze out excess water. Block and allow to dry.
Finshing:Using the feather strip, cut about 5 pieces and place randomly 1-1/2 inches below the top edge of bag. Sew the strips in place using needle and thread. Cut 8 inch lengths of Ozark Handspun yarn. Using US Size G crochet hook, punch through bag just below the upper edge of bag, folding strip of yarn in half and pulling through in same fashion as you attach a fringe.
Attach handles to bag. You can also line the bag if desired but it really isn't needed.

Pattern: Ozark Long Vest


MATERIALS:
6 skeins Ozark Handspun
1 skein Manos del Uruguay
1 Ozark Mane-trim style
1 US size 17 Knitting needles
1 US size P crochet hook
1 US size H crochet hook
1 tapestry needle
1 button

INSTRUCTIONS:
Body: Using Ozark Handspun and US Size 17 needles, cast on 40 stitches. Knit 1 row. Do not cut yarn. Add Manos del Uruguay, knit 4 rows. *Carry Ozark Handspun along, knit 2 rows. Carry along Manos del Uruguay, Knit 4 rows. Repeat from * until you have created a piece which goes around your body comfortably. Bind off loosely on Ozark Handspun row. Fold body rectangle in half in direction of stripes created. Mark center, set aside.
Back yoke: Using Ozark Handspun and US Size 17 needles, cast on 32 stitches. Knit 12 rows. Bind off. Fold back yoke in half, matching up center of body with center of yoke and attach.
FINISHING: Drape Ozark Handspun Mane around neck to create front panels, attaching the mane to back yoke and to front edges of body, adjusting as needed for good fit. Once you are satisfied, fill in any gaps using Ozark Handspun with single crochet stitch.
Now, finish front edges with Ozark Handspun using double crochet along body. Crochet into mane with single crochet around mane. (You may need to switch to a smaller hook or use knitting needle to create holes for stitches.)
Fill in armhole openings using Ozark Handspun and single crochet.
Attach button of choice to left front, positioning as desired. To create buttonhole loop, attach Manos del Uruguay to front edge. Chain appropriate length for button size. Attach to edge, creating loop. Now, single crochet over chain stitches. Fasten off.

Pattern: Ozark Cropped Jacket

MATERIALS:
6 skeins Ozark Handspun
1 skein Manos Del Uruguay
1 US size 17 knitting needles
1 US size P crochet hook
1 button
1 tapestry needle

INSTRUCTIONS:
BACK: Using Ozark Handspun and US size 17 needles, cast on 32 stitches. Knit 1 row, leave yarn attached. Add Manos yarn, Knit 2 rows. Leave that yarn attached, carry Ozark Handspun across. Knit 2 rows. Continue alternating yarns until piece measures 24 inches. Bind off on Ozark Handspun row.
RIGHT FRONT: Using Ozark Handspun and Us Size 17 needles cast on 32 stitches. Knit 1 row, leaving yarn attached. Add Manos del Uruguay, knit 2 rows. Carry yarn in same fashion as for back for approximately 7 inches. Bind off 8 stitches. Continue knitting, alternating yarns as before. *Knit 2 rows of Ozark Handspun, 2 rows of Manos del Uruguay until piece measure approximately 14 inches. Bind off on Ozark Handspun row.
LEFT FRONT: Using Ozark Handspun and Us Size 17 needles cast on 24 stitches. Knit 1 row. Do not cut yarn. Attach Manos del Uruguay, knit 2 rows. Carry along Manos, knit 2 rows. Continue in this fashion for approximately 7 inches. Then cast on 8 stitches and continue alternating yarns until piece measures approximately 14 inches. Bind off on Ozark Handspun row.
Assemble pieces. No blocking needed.
ARMHOLES: Single crochet edge then double crochet around edge. Fasten off.
FINISHING: Using Ozark Handspun, outline edges of garmnet with single crochet.
Add button to left front. To create button loop, attach Manos del Uruguay to right front edge.
Chain appropriate number of stitches for size of button. Attach to front edge. Crochet over chain stitches using single crochet. Fasten off.

Pattern: Ozark Roll Brim Hat

MATERIALS:
2 skeins Ozark Handspun
1 skein Rio del la Plata handspun
1 US size N crochet hook
1 US size H crochet hook

DIRECTIONS:
Using double strand of Rio de la Plata handspun, chain 3, slip stitch together to form ring. Chain 2, single crochet 10 times into ring. Slip stitch together.
Row 2: Add Ozark Handspun, letting other yarn hang. Single crochet, increasing every other stitch with Ozark Handspun. Slip stitch together. Let Ozark Handspun hang.
Row 3: Picking up Rio de la Plata and carrying along loosely, chain 2 and single crochet for next row increasing every 4th stitch. Slip stitch together. Drop Rio de la Plata.
Row 4: With Ozark Handspun carried loosely along the back, chain 1, single crochet, increasing as needed for piece to lie flat. Slip stitch together.
Row 5: With Rio le la Plata, chain 2, single crochet row, increasing randomly throughout row as needed to keep piece flat. Slip stitch together.
Row 6: With Ozark Handspun, chain 1, single crochet evenly around row. Slip stitch together.
Row 7: With Rio le la Plata, chain 2, single crochet around row evenly. Slip stitch together.
Rows 8-14: Alternating yarns each row, continue single crochet evenly, ending with a Rio de la plata row.
ROLL BRIM: Using Ozark Handspun, single crochet, increasing every 3rd stitch. Slip stitch together.
Row 2: Chain 2, double crochet evenly for 1 row. Slip stitch together.
Row 3: Chain 1, single crochet, decreasing every 3rd stitch. Slip stitch together. Fasten off, bury ends.
DRAWSTRING: Using single strand of Rio le la Plata and US size G crochet hook, make chain measuring about 32". Weave through hat where crown and brim meet. Adjust fit.

Pattern: Ozark Dreadlock Hat


MATERIALS:
2 skeins Ozark Handspun Yarn
1 skein Manos del Uruguay
1 crochet hook US size N or P
1 crochet hook US size H

DIRECTIONS:
Using US Size N or P crochet hook and 2strands of Manos, chain 3, slip stitch together to form ring. Chain 2, single crochet 10 into center ring. Slip stitch together.
Row 2: Chain 2. *Single crochet into next stitch, then single crochet twice into next stitch. Repeat from * around row. Slip stitch together.
Row 3: Chain 2. *Single crochet into next two stitches, single crochet twice into next stitch. Repeat from * around row. Slip stitch together.
Row 4: Chain 2. *Single crochet into next 4 stitches, single crochet twice into next stitch. Repeat from * around row. Slip stitch together.
Row 5: Chain 2. *Single crochet into next 6 stitches, single crochet twice into next stitch. Repeat from * to end of row. slip stitch together.
Row 6: Chain 2. Single crochet into each stitch around row. Slip stitch together.
Row 7: Chain 2. Chain 2, Single crochet row, do 4 increases spaced evenly in row. Slip stitch together.
Row 8: Chain 2. Single crochet around row. Slip stitch together.
Row 9: Chain 2. Single crochet around row, decreasing every third stitch. Slip stitch together.
Rows 10-16: *Chain 2. Single crochet evenly each row. Slip stitch together. Repeat from *. Fasten off. Bury ends.
Row 17: Using Ozark Handspun, do one row of single crochet. Fasten off. Bury ends.
Dreads: Cut Ozark Handspun into 6" pieces. Using US size H crochet hook, fold pieces in half and attach as you would attach a fringe around edge of crown and then fill in top of hat, evenly distributing pieces.
